Kanzaki Kokyukoki Mfg. Go, Ltd. is a Japanese marine transmission company, founded in 1947 and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Yanmar Company Limited. With factories in North America, Europe, and around the world, Kanzaki powers a variety of watercraft, including fishing boats and pleasure crafts, both mechanical servo cone type marine gears and Highly-reliable wet multiple-plate hydraulic marine gears, with a selection of transmissions built to accommodate a range of sizes, needs, and speeds.

Company History

  • 1947 Kanzaki Kokyukoki Manufacturing Co., Ltd., is established by Magokichi Yamaoka, founder of Yanmar Diesel Engine Co., (now Yanmar Co.,Ltd.,) in Nagasu, Amagasaki.
  • 1948 Production of gears and continuous reverse and reduction gears for marine use is begun.
  • 1955 Development of a gear shaving machine.
  • 1966 Centralized production of transmissions for Yanmar power tillers is begun.
  • 1967 Production of transmissions for Yanmar tractors is begun.
  • 1972 Production of rice planters is begun.
  • 1977 Production of small tractors is begun.
  • 1984 Certified by the ABS(American Bureau of Shipping) as an approved manufacturer.
  • 1989 Tuff Torq Corporation is established as a subsidiary in Tennessee, USA.
  • 1992 Tuff Torq Corporation is the first Japanese company in Tennessee to receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence.
  • 1994 All Kanzaki products and business locations are certified under ISO 9001 international standards for quality control systems.
  • 1997 Kanzaki celebrates its 50th anniversary.
  • 2001 Transaxle Manufacturing of America Corporation is established in South Carolina, USA.
  • 2002 Tractor and construction equipment operations are transferred to Yanmar.
  • 2003 Marine gear operations are transferred from Yanmar to Kanzaki.
